Shortly after 20/20 co-anchor Elizabeth Vargas announced she had checked back into a rehabilitation center, it has been revealed that she and husband Marc Cohn have filed for divorce.
As previously reported, Vargas checked into an inpatient facility recently as she continues to struggle with alcohol addiction.
"While on vacation this weekend," she said in a statement, "I decided to return to a recovery center. As so many other recovering alcoholics know, overcoming the disease can be a long and incredibly difficult process."
Now as she is dealing with alcohol addiction, Us Weekly has learned she is also splitting with Cohn after 12 years of marriage. "The two are indeed in proceedings," a source said. "But the divorce is not yet final."
Vargas has previously said that her husband pushed her to seek treatment the first time back in November. "You have a problem. You're an alcoholic," the ABC anchor said during a Good Morning America interview that Cohn had told her. "It made me really angry, really angry. But he was right."
Vargas and the "Walking in Memphis" singer have two sons, 11-year-old Zachary and 8-year-old Samuel.
