Amazon will be premiering five new pilots for original television series on August 28.
This will be Amazon’s third season; it will add five pilot episodes for five new original series to Amazon Instant Video where users will watch, rate and review in the U.S. and U.K., reports Entertainment Weekly. Based on users' comments and ratings, Amazon will decide which shows will move on into becoming full series.
Amazon is releasing two one-hour long dramas and three half-hour comedies for review. The first of the two dramas is Hand of God, which follows a judge relying on ‘visions’ and ‘messages’ from God to help him find the rapist who tore his family apart. The second is Hysteria, in which a community comes down with a psychological illness which may be being passed through social media.
The half-hour comedies include The Cosmopolitans, where an American searches for love in Paris, Really, which follows four married couples dealing with their dwindling youth and Red Oaks, which is about a young man deciding what major to declare in the fall but meets a group of misfits to help him enjoy the last of his summer.
While their two series from last year Alpha House and Betas did not receive as much success as Netflix originals such as House of Cards and Orange is the New Black, these shows may hold potential for Amazon Instant Video’s future, reports Time.
