Johns, who was only 35, passed away on Friday from what sources say was a blood clot in his ankle, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
The Australian-born singer lived in Buckhead, GA from 1998-2002 and went by Michael Lee, according to AccessAtlanta.com. Before his career in music, Johns came over to the United Sates because of his love for tennis. He came overseas on a tennis scholarship. Johns came in eighth place when he was on season 7 of American Idol. He tried out for the show in San Diego and just made the age limit to audition. He was 29.
Becoming even just a finalist on American Idol helped Johns’ music career. He was on a PBS television special called Hit Man: David Foster and Friends and also made an appearance on 2012’s Real Housewives of Beverly Hills. Johns met his wife Stacey in West Hollywood in 2003 and married in 2007.
