Ever since Arrested Development fans rushed through season four on Netflix, we have been waiting for word on another season of Bluth family misadventures. Netflix has been confident that the family would be getting back together again soon and made it clear that they are still hopeful in a new interview.
Netflix chief content officer Ted Sarandos spoke with USA Today on Wednesday and said that he is “positive” that Arrested Development will be back for a fifth season.
“It's just a matter of when,” Sarandos said.
He also acknowledged one of the main criticisms of season four - that the ensemble cast didn’t appear together enough. Indeed, the packed schedules for Jason Bateman, Michael Cera, Will Arnett, Portia De Rossi, Tony Hale and others made it difficult for the entire Bluth family to be on camera at once.
Of course, this is hardly the first time that we’ve heard that Netflix wants more from creator Mitch Hurwitz, who has an overall deal to develop more programs for the company. Back in September 2013, Sarandos said, “It is just a matter of when and what form it takes.”
“There will be more to this story,” Bateman teased to E! News back in May 2013.
So, everyone is in agreement. We need more Bluth and we have to hope the stars can find some time to make it.
