Body of missing Marine’s wife found in mine shaft

By Michelle Kapusta,

Authorities have said that the body of Erin Corwin, 19, was found in a mine shaft and they have arrested her suspected lover.

According to the Los Angeles Times, police arrested Cpl. Christopher Brandon Lee, who is believed to have had an affair with Corwin.

He was taken into custody by authorities on Sunday in Anchorage, Alaska.

Corwin disappeared back on June 28. She was last seen by her husband, Cpl. Jonathan Wayne Corwin, leaving their home headed for Joshua Tree National Park. She was three months pregnant at the time she went missing.

Her remains were found on Saturday down a 140-foot deep mineshaft near the Southern California park.

The Corwins lived on the Marine Corps Air Ground Combat Center. Authorities said the 24-year-old Lee used to live next door to the couple.

Lee, who is also married, was questioned by detectives after Corwin’s disappearance. He told investigators that he kissed her, but did not pursue things further because he was afraid his wife would find out.
