The cast of CBS’ new CSI: Crime Scene Investigation spin-off CSI: Cyber has just gotten a new face. Shad Moss, better known in the music world as Bow Wow, will be a member of the team led by Patricia Arquette.
CBS said that Moss was cast as Brody “Baby Face” Nelson, a 20-year-old cyber-intrusion expert who has been forced to work with Arquette's Special Agent Avery Ryan if he wants to avoid prison. He has never had a family, so his real family is the group of hacktivists he knows. Nelson’s biggest problem is being forced to help the Feds while hoping to still keeping contact with his criminal friends.
(That character sounds a lot like a certain Penelope Garcia in CBS’ other long-running crime drama, Criminal Minds.)
“Bow Wow is a gifted young actor who will have the responsibility, through his character, to set an example for young people who watch the show to ‘do what's right’ even when you know ‘nothing but wrong,’” CSI creator Anthony E. Zuiker said in a statement. “It will be a redemption story and a cautionary tale all wrapped into one. The role of Nelson required someone with deep acting chops and off-the-charts smarts. Shad Moss is a unique talent that possesses both.”
Moss is currently the host of BET’s 106 & PArk and also starred on Entourage, Smallville, Ugly Betty and The Steve Harvey Show.
The series will air beginning this fall. It is the third CSI spin-off, following the now-cancelled CSI: Miami and CSI: New York.
