Cliff Richard interviewed by police during sexual molestation investigation

By Daniel S Levine,

Legendary British singer Sir Cliff Richard was interviewed by police this past week, as authorities investigate sexual molestation claims against him.

As we reported earlier this month, Richard had already denied any wrongdoing. The specific allegation he is facing dates back to 1985 and claims that he sexually assaulted a young boy following an event with American evangelist Billy Graham.

Still, Richard is being completely cooperative with South Yorkshire Police. Today, Richard’s rep released a statement saying that he voluntarily met with police for an interview. “He was not arrested or charged,” the rep added, Reuters reports.

Richard’s rep again said that he is innocent and that the allegation is “completely false.”

According to the Telegraph, Richard has cancelled several public performances in recent weeks, especially since police raided his apartment on Aug. 14. He even pulled out of an event in Portugal, where he has spent the summers for the past four decades.

Richard, 73, is one of the longest-performing British musicians in history, with a career that began back in the 1950s. He was one of the top performers in the country before The Beatles came along.
