A Walt Disney World custodian has been charged with sexual battery after allegedly attacking a coworker on Thursday at work.
Gideon Paul Hunte, 49, has been charged with kidnapping and sexual battery.
According to WTSP-TV in Tampa, the victim claims Hunte pushed her against a wall in a custodian's closet Thursday evening. He held her to the wall, pushing her to her knees during the attack, Orange County Sheriff's Office officials said. The attack lasted around five minutes and during the entire time, she resisted Hunte.
WESH in Orlando reports that Hunte told detectives he did touch the woman inappropriately. He was not friends with the victim and she said she did not know him outside of work.
“This is a law enforcement matter. He has been placed on unpaid leave pending the outcome of the charges. We have zero tolerance for this type of alleged behavior,” Disney said in a statement.
No further information about Hunte’s work record was made public and it is not known where on Disney property the attack took place. Disney did tell WTSP that the attack took place near a backstage area not accessible to guests.
Hunte is being held without bond. He was booked at Orange County Jail on Friday.
