Joan Collins joins E!'s scripted series 'The Royals' as Elizabeth Hurley's mother

By Gina DiFalco,

E!’s first-ever scripted series will feature former Dynasty star, Joan Collins. The series, called The Royals, will premiere in 2015.

Collins will play Grand Duchess of Oxford opposite Elizabeth Hurley, who plays her daughter, Queen Helen.

"I am delighted to be part of this very entertaining project," she told People.

The show will be based on a modern fictional royal family in London.

Grand Duchess of Oxford has an “entourage and an agenda,” and she’s described as “the only woman in the world more formidable and imposing.”

As we previously reported, William Moseley, Alexandra Park and Vincent Regan have also joined the cast. Mark Schwahn will both write and direct, and he will executive produce alongside Brian Robbins and Joe Davola.

“This is a big idea and Mark, Brian, Joe and the Lionsgate team delivered,” E!’s senior vice president of scripting programming, Kevin Plunkett, has said in a statement.

The show will be shot on location in the U.K.
