The Stanley Cup champion Los Angeles Kings and the San Jose Sharks will play each other at Levi’s Stadium, home to the San Francisco 49ers of the NFL, in the 2015 edition of the Stadium Series.
According to NHL.com, the game will be played on Feb. 21 at 10 p.m. ET with the Sharks serving as the home team. The Kings will be considered the visiting team.
The game will be broadcast on NBC Sports Network in the U.S., according to the Los Angeles Times.
This will be the second time that the a hockey game will be played outdoors in California. The Kings played the Anaheim Ducks at Dodger Stadium last season.
However, this will be the first outdoor game the Sharks will play in.
NHL Commissioner Gary Bettman said in a statement that the growing popularity of hockey in California and last season playoffs series between the two teams led to the decision to have this be an outdoor game.
During the playoffs last season, the Kings were down 3-0 to the Sharks before winning four straight games to beat the Sharks in the first round.
