By Madeline Smith,

Pop singer Lorde gave her bestie Taylor Swift's new album, 1989, high praise in a recent radio interview.

In an interview with New Zealand radio personalities Guy, Sharyn and Clint on The Edge, Lorde revealed that Swift had shared her new single “Shake It Off” with her long before it was revealed publicly on Yahoo.

The New Zealander also heard the rest of Swift's highly anticipated fifth album, 1989.

“What I’m going to say about it [the album] is… that it is quite simply, as someone who’s a fan of pop music, it is joyous," the "Royals" singer told the station. "It is such a great record. Honestly, it’s so good."

TheCelebrityCafe.com had previously reported how close Lorde and Swift have been getting in recent months. They recently attended a cooking class together and posted pictures on social media.

Swift recently told Good Morning America about her criteria for being one of her besties.

"I think that it doesn't matter what career my friends have. It just based on the fact that...I can really relate to people who are very driven, and intelligent," Swift said. "You want to be around, like, smart, exciting people. I think that just brings you up."

Swift announced her new album and released her new single with its music video Aug. 18. 1989 is set to be released Oct. 27.
