It was announced Thursday that 17-year-old singer/songwriter Lorde, from New Zealand, will be selecting the soundtrack for the upcoming The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay - Part 1, and writing and recording the film's first single.

Lorde informed the crazed Games fans on Twitter that the first single is already written, along with help from Joel Little.

Lorde also tweeted:

The Mocking Jay film director, Francis Lawrence, ensured the fans that the Grammy-winning singer was the right choice.

“I sat down with Lorde on the set of ‘Mockingjay’ this spring and I was immediately struck by how she so innately understood what we, as both fans and filmmakers, were trying to accomplish with the film,” Lawrence said, Boston.com reports. “I can’t wait to share what she’s done with the fans. It is truly remarkable."

Lorde will also be kicking off her third North American tour, according to Billboard, on Sept. 5 in Philadelphia, before traveling to 19 more cities.

The Hunger Games: Mocking Jay - Part 1 is set for release on Nov. 21.
