Miami Dolphins activate Knowshon Moreno

By Alex Jordan,

Miami Dolphins running back Knowshon Moreno was taken off the physically unable to perform list on Wednesday.

Moreno was put on the list after suffering a knee injury. He had knee surgery after minicamp. For the first 10 days of training camp he just rehabbed his knee with a trainer. During his first practice on Wednesday Moreno only participated in individual position drills, according to ESPN. His main focus is to get ready for the regular season.

"Today was testing it out and seeing how it feels," Moreno said. "I feel good. What I did today, I felt pretty good doing it. Now, the next couple of days I'll just progress and do more and more each day."

He went on to add, “The main thing is to be ready for the season. Every day I did more and more in the training room. Now it's time to do a little bit more on the field."

After five seasons with the Denver Broncos, Moreno signed a one-year, $3.275 million contract with the Dolphins in March. He had the best season of his career last year. Last year he rushed for 1,038 yards, had 60 receptions, and 13 touchdowns, which are all career-highs, according to the Associated Press. He was fifth in the NFL in yards from scrimmage.

Moreno will compete with Lamar Miller for a starting position. It is unlikely that he will play in the Dolphins' preseason opener. The Dolphins begin the preseason on Monday against the Atlanta Falcons.
