Ottawa Senators re-sign forward Clarke MacArthur

The Ottawa Senators have re-signed forward Clarke MacArthur to a five-year extension.

According to the Senators, MacArthur’s contract will have an annual cap hit of $4.65 million dollars and it will run to the end of the 2019-2020 NHL season.

Last season was MacArthur’s first with the team. He scored 24 goals and had 55 total points. He will make $3.25 million dollars in his final season of his first contract, according to USA Today.

Senators owner Eugene Melnyk told Yahoo Sports, that MacArthur will only continue to improve over the next couple of years.

“We all believe that he’s going to be a huge contributor to the team. He’s a great character guy. He’s great in the dressing room. We’re really pleased that we’ve got him locked in for the next six years.”

In his career, MacArthur has scored 117 goals and 151 points. He has played for the Buffalo Sabres, Atlanta Thrashers and Toronto Maple leafs.

He was drafted by the Sabres in the third round of the 2003 NHL Draft.
