‘The Simpsons’ marathon began today on FXX

By Mila Whiteley,

Are you a fan of Springfield and all its characters? Then get ready: the marathon of all 552 of episodes of the beloved sitcom The Simpsons began on August 21 on 10 a.m. on FXX.

Covering 25 years of Marge’s fantastic hair and Bart’s troublemaking, FXX is airing a marathon of all the episodes of The Simpsons, as we previously reported. Starting today, fans have 12 days of back-to-back episodes to watch, the longest marathon of episodes ever put on television.

The Simpsons is amazingly popular, and has had a huge cast of guest voices, ranging from Michael Jackson to Paul McCartney. Speaking of what makes The Simpsons such a success after so many years, executive producer Al Jean stated to Entertainment Tonight that, “Despite the fact that it's an animated property, the stories The Simpsons tell are very relatable."

Still, even for fans of the show, 12 days of television watching is pretty overwhelming. In fact, the Guinness World Record for longest continuous watching is 86 hours and 37 minutes, which was actually set a couple of years ago by fans of The Simpsons, according to Entertainment Weekly. While extremely impressive, this is nowhere near the time of a whole Simpsons marathon, leaving realistic watchers gathering strategies for the best way to watch.

What will your watching strategy be?
