The newest SLS hotel hosted an extravagant grand opening over the weekend in Las Vegas. The Friday night event was attended by over 3,000 high profile guests, including Lenny Kravitz, Iggy Azalea, Jamie Foxx and Sharon Stone.
Rapper Iggy Azalea performed with Rita Ora for the hotel’s grand opening, a prequel to the ladies’ VMA performance on Sunday. The bash featured an extensive fireworks show and a V.I.P. party hosted by Pepsi, Beats Music and BMW.
Guardian Liberal Voices reports actor/singer Kravitz played a major role in the birth of the SLS Las Vegas, telling the Las Vegas Review-Journal that he helped design four suites in the new hotel after previously designing two suites in the SLS Miami.
The SLS Las Vegas is a $415 million dollar renovation of The Sahara, which was the tallest building on the strip until it closed in 2011. The Las Vegas Review-Journal reports the hotel has 1,620 rooms, 800 slot machines and it is The Strips’ first new resort since the Cosmopolitan opened its doors in December of 2010.
