Taylor Swift is discussing her state of mind while recording her new album 1989 versus her 2012 album Red, saying dating is no longer a priority to her.
Swift dropped the first single off of 1989 during a live stream on Monday and announced the title of the album as well.
She told Fusion that the difference between the two albums is where she was in life at that point until now.
"[Red] was a devastating record. It was about dealing with an intense heartbreak and 1989 is about the phase after that where you brush yourself off and you're ok,” she explained.
In 2012, she said she was "was very enamored by romance" but "at this point [two years later] I'm really just like, 'I wanna be with my friends!'"
Swift is notorious for writing songs about relationships, and Red is rumored to be about her break-up with actor Jake Gyllenhaal.
"I wanna define my life on my own terms," she said. "That's really my list of priorities now, which is different than it was a few years ago."
