Twitter reacts to Taylor Swift’s new single ‘Shake It Off’

By Madeline Smith,

Taylor Swift released a new single called "Shake It Off" as well as announced her new album 1989's release date, and now Twitter is reacting.

As we previously reported, Swift debuted her new single via Yahoo livestream and announced her album 1989 will be dropped in October. She also revealed a new music video.

The single “Shake It Off” is all about blowing off the things others say and to just go with the flow. The song reflects similar themes Swift has shared before in the song “Mean,” which is about how nothing good comes from putting others down.

Many fans were overjoyed by Swift’s announcement and took to Twitter to share their delight.

“Shake It Off” is already a hit and fans tweeted about their love of the song.

Celebrity fan Kelly Clarkson took to her Twitter to express her love of the song.

Swift herself has been blowing up her own Twitter page with tweets and retweets about “Shake It Off” and 1989.

“Shake It Off” has already hit No. 1 on iTunes within less than a day of it being released.

However, the video for “Shake It Off” has been receiving some negative attention as well. According to Marie Claire, some are calling the music video racist. Rapper Earl Sweatshirt blew up his Twitter page claiming Swift was being offensive by using black stereotypes.

Love it or hate it, it seems “Shake It Off” is already becoming a huge hot for Swift. Swift’s fifth album, 1989, is set to be released October 27.
