Fans of Veronica Mars were excited enough to get the theatrical movie they always dreamed of. But that’s not the end of the line for Rob Thomas’ cult CW series. Thomas is working on a web spin-off and it has been revealed that the entire cast, including Veronica Mars herself, is coming back.
The web-series, titled Play It Again, Dick, was announced back in January. Ryan Hansen will be the main focus of the series, as a fictional version of himself tries to get the Veronica Mars cast together to help him get his own series about his character, Dick Casablancas, to the airwaves. Clearly, it doesn’t get more meta than this.
“he web series will have more in common with Party Down tonally, but it will be about Ryan Hansen, or at least a version of Ryan Hansen, deciding to capitalize on the current Veronica Mars heat to get his own series on the air,” Thomas told Hit Fix in January. “He'll try to pull his actor pals into the venture with varying degrees of success.”
On Tuesday, BuzzFeed revealed that everyone from Veronica Mars will be back to play both their characters and fictional versions of themselves. In addition, Robert Buckley and Rose McIver, who will star in Thomas’ iZombie pilot, will also make guest appearances.
So, here’s who will be back, in addition to Hansen:
Kristen Bell (Veronica Mars)
Jason Dohring (Logan Echolls)
Enrico Colantoni (Keith Mars)
Percy Daggs III (Wallace Fennel)
Daran Norris (Cliff McCormack)
Francis Capra (Eli “Weevil” Navarro)
Kyle Gallner (Cassidy “Beaver” Casablancas)
Christopher B. Duncan (Clarence Wiedman)
Ryan Devlin (Duncan Kane)
Chris Lowell (only playing himself)
Ken Marino (also only playing himself)
Amanda Noret (Madison Sinclair - she will not play herself)
Lisa Thornhill (Celeste Kane - she will also not play herself)
