Westboro Baptist Church to protest at Robin Williams' funeral

By Kyle Johnson,

Never one to miss an opportunity to garner more hate and disgust, the Westboro Baptist Church revealed plans to protest at the upcoming funeral for beloved comedian Robin Williams.

Everyone's least favorite church group took to Twitter shortly after learning of Williams' death by suicide and tweeted they would protesting his funeral. The group then tweeted, "I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity. (Matthew 7:23)."

It really isn't too surprising that Westboro would picket Williams' funeral and so nonprofit organization Planting Peace revealed it would strike back at the protest through fundraising efforts, The Huffington Post reports.

"Robin Williams played many different roles in so many people's lives, and giving back to others was at the top of the list," co-founder Aaron Jackson said in an e-mail. "His appeal crossed generational boundaries. I was personally impacted when I head of his passing. This is a small gesture to honor his legacy and the difference he made to so many."

Planting Peace's fundraiser will help benefit St. Jude Children's Hospital.

The Oscar-winning actor passed away at the age of 63 on Monday. He was discovered dead of suicide and his rep noted he struggled with severe depression and reportedly was in the early stages of Parkinson's disease.
