Texas Governor Rick Perry deletes tweet mocking District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg

The Texas governor deleted a tweet from his personal account on Sunday that mocked the Travis district attorney.

The tweet featured a photoshopped picture of District Attorney Rosemary Lehmberg's head on the body of a Dos Equis' "Most Interesting Man In the World" ad, featuring the caption: "I don't always drive drunk at 3x the legal blood alcohol limit... ...but when I do, I indict Gov. Perry for calling me out about it. I am the most drunk Democrat in Texas."

While the tweet managed to last for about an hour, it was eventually removed and Perry wrote that he did "not condone the tweet," but stopped short of actually apologizing.

The Houston Chronicle, who posted a screenshot of the mocking tweet, notes that it isn't even technically correct about the case in which it is referring.

While it says she was the one who indicted him, it was actually a grand jury who did so after a specially appointed prosecutor, San Antonio lawyer Michael McCrum, argued that there was enough evidence to indict the governor.

Still, it likely wasn't the Perry who actually made the tweet, despite it being his personal account as he was said to be in attendance at the Baylor game.

The picture is the latest in the saga over the grand jury indictment regarding alleged abuse of power from Gov. Perry. Lehmberg was arrested in 2013 for drunk driving and Perry threatened to veto any funding for her office unless she resigned.

Lehmberg refused and served her time in prison before returning to office. Perry made good on his threat and vetoed $7.5 million in funding.

While he does have the power to veto anything from the legislature, he was accused of abuse of power since Lehmberg's office was investigating a corruption case against a project Perry has pushed for, the Cancer Prevention and Research Institute of Texas.

Unsurprisingly, the governor wasn't too happy and blasted the indictment in itself being an abuse of power.
