Celebrity Kindness: Matthew McConaughey encourages football team during practice

"Pep talks are an important part for any sports team. Usually a coach or team captain speaks or leads a chant. Getting pumped up before the game or practice allows the players to become energized and ready for action.

Having a famous actor give the pep talk would make it even more exciting. That is what Oscar-award winner Matthew McConaughey did for the Texas Longhorns football team.

According to People, the actor joined the University of Texas’ players in the middle of practice to give a speech from moments in True Detective and The Wolf of Wall Street. The rambling speech also promoted his upcoming film, Interstellar.

Since McConaughey is originally from Texas, some have speculated that his support stems from state pride. According to USA Today Sports, the Texas Longhorn’s coach Charlie Strong is the one who convinced the star to appear at practice. Previously, the team had lost an important game.

SB Nation was surprised by McConaughey’s excellent depiction of a coach. Of course, he would take this opportunity not only to inspire but also display his acting talent.
