Classic 'Star Wars: X-Wing' and 'TIE Fighter' PC games finally made available

"If you grew up with a computer in the early 1990s, there were two Star Wars games you had to have: X-Wing and its sequel, TIE Fighter. Sadly, they were never re-released for modern systems, until now. Disney Interactive has struck a major deal with GOG.com to make it and other Lucasarts classics available for today’s PCs.

The joint venture will start with six titles, three of which are Star Wars games. In addition to the Special Edition’s of both X-Wing and TIE Fighter, and the acclaimed Knights of the Old Republic RPG.

The three other Lucasarts titles are Sam & Max Hit The Road, The Secret of Monkey Island: Special Edition and Indiana Jones and the Fate of Atlantis.
X-Wing, TIE Fighter, KOTOR and Monkey Island are each available on GOG.com for $9.99. Indiana Jones and Sam & Max are currently $5.99 each.

“We are very excited to be able to bring these classic interactive titles to our platform; it has been a long-time dream of ours,” Guillaume Rambourg, managing director at GOG.com, said in a statement.“Luckily, Disney Interactive is always looking for new ways to give players access to content, so this was a natural partnership. To those gamers playing these titles for the first time…May the Force Be With You!”

More Lucasarts games will be available in the future. Now, excuse me while I go back to flying my X-Wing and gig out the old joystick. "
