Queen Latifah Show cancelled, host thanks crew

The Queen Latifah Show was cancelled on Friday. Queen Latifah herself confirmed the news, posting a message to her crew on Facebook.

Latifah thanked her family, staff and crew for the work they did on the syndicated show, which ran for two seasons. “Your dedication and sacrifice was crucial to the entire team, and in the face of intense challenges, you displayed ‘True Grit’!” she wrote.

“We truly changed people’s lives for the better,” the Oscar nominated actress continued. “So… STAY POSITIVE, STAY STRONG, and most importantly, STAY OPEN… There is so much more God has in store!”

According to TMZ, the crew was given the news this morning, with production stopping immediately.

Latifah has been working hard to cultivate a personality beyond acting, recently testing her hosting talents for CBS’ broadcast of the Hollywood Film Awards. She will also be hosting the Nobel Peace Prize Concert, which is scheduled for Dec. 11 in Oslo.

The Queen Latifah Show is just the latest celebrity-fronted talk show to meet the ax. Katie Couric’s show lasted just two seasons before being cancelled last season. Bethenny Frankel’s show lasted just a season before meeting its end in February.
