Lance Armstrong says he would probably dope again

Disgraced former cyclist Lance Armstrong said if given the chance he would probably use steroids again early on in his career.

Armstrong said in an interview with BBC Sport that the culture of cycling today is different from the 90s when doping was a common practice.

"If I was racing in 2015, no, I wouldn't do it again, because I don't think you have to. If you take me back to 1995, when it was completely and totally pervasive, I'd probably do it again." Armstrong said.

The former Olympic champion and Tour de France winner said that while his answer may not be received well by fans he doesn't totally regret doping because of the growth it brought to the sport. Armstrong said during the time the sales at his bicycle supplier heavily increased along with the money being raised by his charity foundation.

Armstrong added that the hardest part of his lifetime ban from cycling and other sports is not being able to participate in charity events.

"If my mum got [multiple sclerosis] tomorrow—and thank God she hasn't—and I wanted to run the Boston Marathon to raise $100,000 (£66,500) for the MS Society, I couldn't do it. And not just run, I couldn't walk it, run a little bit, walk the aid stations and finish in four hours 15 minutes, but raise a hundred grand—I can't do it." Armstrong said.

Armstrong had his Olympic medals and seven Tour de France titles stripped after admitting to doping in an interview with Oprah Winfrey in 2013, notes Fox Sports.
