Woody Allen's latest officially titled 'Irrational Man,' stars Joaquin Phoenix and Emma Stone

Woody Allen is not a fan of naming his pictures, so typically his fans do not find out what they are called until he is about done with the project. Once again, this is the case for his latest. Sony Pictures Classics, in the midst of announcing they'll distribute Allen's latest, revealed the new movie's official title: Irrational Man.

These new developments were just announced in a press release from the company, as reported by Deadline. The film reunites Allen with Emma Stone, who worked with the filmmaker on his last film Magic in the Moonlight, and she stars opposite lead actor Joaquin Phoenix. Also starring in this film are Jamie Blackley and Parker Posey.

"Sony Classics and I have a good working relationship," Allen said. "I like the way they handle my movies, very special, very classy and I always hope my films live up to their expectations."

Sony Pictures also commented by noting, "Woody Allen's new movie Irrational Man, his latest annual gift to moviegoers everywhere, is as fresh and winning as ever." Allen's new movie serves as his eighth collaboration with Sony Pictures.

At the moment, there is no official plot synopsis for the film, but reports state Irrational Man centers on a University professor (Phoenix) who forms an unusual relationship with his student (Stone). The report does not state when Allen's movie comes to theaters, but considering the strong track record he's had between spring and summer of late, expect to see it around then.

Irrational Man may, indeed, be the last film filmgoers see from Allen in the near future. At the moment, he is working on his first-ever TV project with Amazon. The show, whatever it is and whatever it's about, is currently untitled, but already has a full-season order. Each episode will be written by the Annie Hall filmmaker and likely directed by him as well. As such, 2016 likely will be the first year in decades without a new Allen movie coming to theaters.
