Staff Picks: Our Dream Vacations

It’s cold outside... yeah, that’s not news. But even if you are in warmer parts of the country, you still want to get away from work. At TheCelebrityCafe.com, we just had to talk about our dream vacation spots. Where would you like to go if you had an unlimited budget?

Will Ashton: For whatever reason, my parents filled me with the false sense of hope since early childhood that I would go to Disney World. In my formative years, I remember dozens of Disney World and Disney Land promotional VHS tapes flooding the mail and filling me with joy and wonder at this magical wonderland located in Florida. Coming from a seven member household, however, this never came to be, and those fleeting visions of magic and wonder will be my only understanding of Walt Disney's amusement parks for the time being.

While I'd love to visit London or the Bahamas or go to China one of these days, ultimately my heart still wants to go to Disney World one of these days. I know it's bound to disappoint. The sun will be too hot. The lines will be too long. The rides will not be as wonderful as they were in the videos and the world should not be so small there. But I can help but fulfill that sense of joy and wonder inside me. If just as an emotional cleanser, I'd like to put my arms up and yell that sports cliche: "I'm going to Disney World!"

Anna Rose Meeds: After studying this past summer in Oxford, I would love to return there for a vacation. This city has it all: interesting museums, charming cafes, woodsy parks, hip bars, huge libraries, splendid churches...I could go on and on. It makes you feel young and smart just walking down the cobbled streets.

Tina Henry: I guess my dream vacation would be to visit Hawaii. Which island or city really doesn't matter to me as long as it has beautiful sandy beaches, lots of sunshine, luaus and a large assortment of tropical drinks at my disposal, or should I say... for my disposal. Yeah, that'll do it!

Carissa Shuman: I went to Scotland once, years ago, but I only had three days with which to see as much as I could. I was completing a summer study program at Oxford, so it was quite a distance to travel in such a short period of time. I spent more time on trains and buses than I did sight seeing. The two best parts (other than taking a boat ride across Loch Ness) were staying in bed and breakfasts (the people there are wonderful), and hiking on the Isle of Skye. My dream vacation would be to go back to the Isle of Skye and travel up to the Orkney Islands to see the remains of the early Norwegian settlers. The topper would be to take an Arctic cruise that includes Iceland.

Elizabeth Learned: My dream vacation would be to go to Italy. I love the scenery and architecture associated with the area and I've always been fascinated by the idea of visiting the beautiful cities. Plus, I think it would be neat to go on a gondola ride and see all of the sights. And because I'm a sucker for Italian food, I'd love to try their cuisines while enjoying the atmosphere.

Marc Regen: Being a huge fan of the entertainment industry, I have always dreamed of going to California. Not just California in general, but where the stars live, laugh and love. I would like to visit Beverly Hills and the Hollywood district in Los Angeles, specifically. I want to go see the famous Hollywood sign up close at Hollywood hills. I want to walk the Hollywood Walk of Fame and visit certain Stars that my favorite celebrities have accomplished getting. I would enjoy seeing the famous Chinese theater. It wouldn't hurt shopping on Rodeo Drive. I would love to have bunches of bags on each arm like Julia from Pretty Woman. Of course while I'm there I want to hit their beaches and experience the beaches of California.

Michelle Kapusta: I really love the islands and one of my dream destinations has always been Puerto Rico. Having made it to ‘La Isla Del Encanto’ a few years back, I had to pick a new dream spot and that is Fiji.

I can’t think of a more exotic place on the planet. I know a few people that have been there and they said there is not another place on earth quite like it. I image beautiful, calm, sun-drenched beaches that are not too touristy. Google any image of the island and you’ll see what I mean. It’s definitely a spot I have to get to one day.

Daniel S Levine: My dream has always been to go to Europe. I achieved my dream of going to Los Angeles early last year, although the trip was much too short. Still, I can check it off the list. But Europe, to me, is a place I must go. I have to go to London and Paris at least one. And not just to see the tourist traps. Of course, when I go to London, I’ll check off the Beatles-related sites, but I feel like that would be like visiting New York and only going to Times Square. It just wouldn’t be right.
