BET announces they're reviving MTV's 'Punk'd' again

Punk’d will go on to live another day, as BET has announced on Thursday that they will revive the series Ashton Kutcher created in 2003.

The show ran through 2007 and it briefly returned in 2012.

The Hollywood Reporter notes at the upfront, it was announced the show would be “tailored” for the network’s viewers. Punk’d is just one of seven new show orders the network announced this week.

BET and MTV are both owned by Viacom, so it’s not too far-fetched that the network has picked up series again.

This time around, the show will show more of a behind-the-scenes approach to how the pranks are carried out. It’s not clear if Ashton Kutcher will come back in any capacity, though he did still executive produce during the revival a few years back.

BET Networks chairman and CEO Debra Lee said in a statement about the new shows, “Black consumers experience BET Networks differently than any other network because of our 35 years of history, tremendous experience and insights. We continue to give our viewers what they want -- high-quality content that respects, reflects and elevates them.”
