Laura Linney joins 'Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' sequel

Laura Linney, a three-time Oscar nominated actress, has surprisingly joined Paramount’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles sequel.

The actress’ casting was first reported by The Hollywood Reporter, but it’s not clear what role she will have.

Linney is best known for dramas and has Oscar nods for Kinsey, You Can Count On Me and The Savages. She also has three Emmys for her television work. She’s never done a big Hollywood blockbuster before this one, so it's certainly an interesting change of pace.

Variety also reported that The Wolverine’s Brian Tee will star as Shredder.

Other new members of the cast also include Arrow’s Stephen Amell and Tyler Perry. Megan Fox and Will Arnett are both returning for another round with the heroes in a half shell.

Paramount did confirm last week that the fan-favorite characters Bebop and Rocksteady will appear in the new movie.

TMNT 2 hits theaters in June 2016. David Green is directing.
