20th Century Fox Suspends Showrunners Pay
Many TV shows have shut down production completely since Monday's writer's guild strike. NBC's "The Office" put a halt on the episode they were shooting due to the absence of star and writers guild member Steve Carell, and many more are on their way.
Many of the show runners -- head honchos who hold everything together -- are neglecting to perform their other duties outside of writing. They feel that they can't go on with the production without writing, if rewrites and story tweaks and editing are considered. According to The New York Times, a 20th Century Fox representative said that they sent out letters informing them that they are suspending their pay for breach of contract due to their failure, "to report to work and render their non-writing producing services." Some of the 20th Century Fox shows that it effects are "Prison Break," " The Unit"and "My Name Is Earl." Shows are on an indefinite break until a settlement is reached.
