'24' actor granted divorce
Kiefer Sutherland, known for playing the role of Jack Bauer on 24, will finally have the chance to divorce his wife, four years after attempting to do so.
Sutherland filed for divorce from his wife of Elizabeth Kelly Winn, his wife of since 1996, in 2004. The reason behind the divorce was, according to Efluxmedia.com, "irreconcilable differences." They have been separated since 1999 and have no children together.
Sutherland has been divorced once before, after a three-year marriage to Camelia Kath; a union that resulted in a daughter.
Sutherland's role as Jack Bauer has resulted in many awards, including an Emmy Award for Outstanding Lead Actor in a Drama Series and a Golden Globe for Best Actor. Fox said that the seventh season of the show would return in November with a two-hour prequel.
The show's production was suspended due to the writer's strike; during that time, Sutherland served 48 days in jail for a second DUI conviction and for violating probation.
Sutherland's time behind bars caused him to miss both the winter holidays as well as his birthday.
