'24' Finally Hitting the Big Screen?

There may be a screenplay writer attached to the project.

Jack Bauer’s action-packed, life-saving days may be too big for the small screen. While there is no official word on the existence of a 24 movie, there is some stirring in the film world.

Entertainment Weekly reports Billy Ray (State of Play) may have talked his way into landing the job of screenplay writer for the film adaptation.

24 is now in its eighth season, but Fox hasn’t green-lighted a renewal yet. EW says the show is down this season by 10% in total viewers, so the network is waiting to see if it peaks in the coming weeks.

EW says the show’s possible film future could affect if Fox picks it up for another season.

Actor Kiefer Sutherland told EW in January he wouldn’t mind bringing Bauer to the big screen.

“In a media world that is changing unbelievably fast, a television series can either act as a great trailer for a film, or a film can act as a great trailer for a television series. And I think the first person who actually does that is going to change the way television interacts with feature films,” Sutherland said.
