50 Cent and Universal Sued by 14-Year-Old Boy
According to Reuters, 50 Cent and Universal Music Group were sued Wednesday by a 14-year-old boy for allegedly promoting criminal lifestyles. The boy claims 50 Cent's friends assaulted him on a Manhattan sidewalk in March 2007.
James Rosemond and his mother, Cynthia Reed, filed a lawsuit against Universal Music Group and its labels Interscope Records, G-Unit Records and Shady Records. Additional defendants include 50 Cent, Tony Yayo, Chris Lighty, and Lowell Fletcher. The lawsuit says the involved parties are responsible for the assault because they promote violence among artists.
Rosemond claims he was assaulted by four men, including Fletcher and Yayo. He alleges he became a target of criminal violence because of his clothing. Rosemond was reportedly wearing a T-shirt by Czar Entertainment, a representative company of former G-Unit rapper The Game. The Game became a rival rapper once he left the G-Unit group.
Yayo pleaded guilty to harassment charges in February and received ten days of community service. Fletcher was found guilty for endangering the welfare of a child and faces nine months in jail.
