83 Years of Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade
This year's Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade was a hit and as popular as ever even after the change in route, reported New York Daily News.
The parade was full of the classic floats and balloons which the public loves such as Kermit the Frog.
New floats including Pillsbury Doughboy and Mickey joined this year's parade along with the new 2.65 mile route.
For the first time in the 83 years the spectacle went off Broadway and through Seventh Avenue making five turns and ending at Herald Square.
The holiday spectacle and tradition hosted by Meredith Vieira, Matt Lauer and Al Roker topped a long list of television programming on Thursday morning.
The parade this year was re-routed due to traffic blocks in Broadway that prevent vehicular traffic from passing through. For the first time the Thanksgiving Day Parade marching bands, floats and balloons had to make five sharp turns.
During past years the parade went on a diagonal route across Broadway which ended at Herald Square.
