ABBA Appears for Release of "Mamma Mia!"

ABBA was at the premiere for "Mamma Mia!" in Sweden.

The foursome of the supergroup, ABBA, appeared together Friday at the Swedish premiere of the musical film, Mamma Mia! This made fans ecstatic since this is their first public appearance in years, reported Reuters.

The group is made up of Benny Andersson, Bjorn Ulvaeus, Anni-Frid Lyngstad, and Agnetha Faltskog. Their fans were in attendance in the thousands at a Stockholm movie theater. Mamma Mia! features 22 of the group's songs, including "Dancing Queen," "Take a Chance on Me," and "The Winner Takes It All," reported Reuters.

ABBA came to fame in 1974 in the Eurovision Song Contest and last performed together in 1986, though there are reports that they sang at a private birthday party in 1999. They were also reported to have been offered $1 billion to reunite for a concert tour, according to Reuters.

Agnetha and Frida embraced with Meryl Streep, posing for pictures at the film premiere, before all four of the members appeared on the theatre balcony. They stood together with other members of the cast. The cast were enthused about ABBA's music at news conferences, according to Reuters, as well as speaking of the challenges of wearing the spandex costumes for their roles.

The cast had fun with the roles they were given, though still finding their costumes to be a little difficult. This was not the only thing on their plates though; they had to learn to sing as well. Pierce Brosnan is better known as James Bond, but told Reuters of the roll, "Once I started singing, I kind of rather enjoyed it. The spandex was a bit of a challenge and the boots were. But I had the time of my life making this movie."
