ABC Adds New Comedies
On Thursday, ABC picked up full seasons of its current comedic line-up. The lucky sitcoms were "Modern Family","Cougar Town" and "The Middle".
Early standouts in ratings were "Modern Family" and "Cougar Town". ABC is using a two-hour comedy block on Wednesdays from 9-10 pm.
Patricia Heaton stars in "The Middle" which has been less impressive during its 8:30 pm time slot.
"Modern Family" premiered with 12.6 million viewers and over the first three episodes the average is 10.5 million viewers.
Courtney Cox's "Cougar Town" which began its season on Sept. 23 premiered with more than 11.2 million viewers. The average for their three episodes is 9.5 million viewers.
"Hank" is the comedy show whose future is undetermined. The only multi-camera comedy, starring Kelsey Grammer has performed the worst on the ratings chart.
The fifth Wednesday series "Eastwick" is ABC's lowest performing comedy series and the fate of the show has yet to be decided.
