ABC Announces Fall Lineup

The network reveals its plan for next season.

According to the Associated Press, ABC is launching 11 new series next season. The network is the third most popular, behind CBS and Fox, and it lost 3 percent of its viewership this past season.

Entertainment chief Stephen McPherson said, "We've got our work cut out for us, but innovative, different and compelling is going to be the key."

Among the new shows are Cougar Town, starring former Friends star Courteney Cox, Hank, starring Kelsey Grammer, and shows produced by both Jerry Bruckheimer and Mark Burnett.

Entertainment Weekly reported that Wednesdays on ABC will feature an entirely new lineup. This is when Grammer's and Cox's series will air, as well as shows featuring Patricia Heaton and Ed O'Neill. After the comedy block, there will be an hour of drama with Eastwick, a new take on the book, The Witches of Eastwick, by John Updike.

Shows that will not be returning for the 2009-10 season include Cupid, According to Jim and Samantha Who.
