ABC Announces Which of Its Prime-Time Shows Will Return

Returning shows include "Grey's Anatomy" and "Desperate Housewives."

On Wednesday, ABC said that many of its hit prime-time shows that went off the air during the writers' strike will return in April, but a few newer shows are being withheld for next season, Reuters reports.

The comedy Samantha Who, starring Christina Applegate as an amnesiac woman, is the first prime-time ABC show to return after the strike; it will air the first of six new episodes on April 7. The next night will see the return of the drama Boston Legal, which also has six new episodes.

Desperate Housewives comes back on April 13 with five new episodes and a two-hour season finale. The castaway drama Lost already premiered its fourth season on Jan. 31 as a mid-season replacement and will move to a new Thursday time slot on April 24. Grey's Anatomy and Ugly Betty will also be returning, with all three shows producing five new episodes before the season ends.

Three of ABC's newer shows-Pushing Daisies, Private Practice, and Dirty Sexy Money-will not be seen until next season.

Another new show, Cashmere Mafia, starring Lucy Liu, finished airing its new episodes last week and will be replaced by the returning drama-comedy Men in Trees.
