ABC Family moves forward with new "Cutting Edge" movie
ABC Family is going ahead with the fourth installment in "The Cutting Edge" ice skating movie franchise, which began with the 1992 hit feature film of the same name.
According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, "In ['The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice,'] Alex segues into teaching after her skating career comes to an abrupt halt when her partner on and off the ice is injured.'"
"The Cutting Edge: Fire & Ice" has Raisa being joined by Brendan Fehr, who stars as James Van Behr, the fiery bad boy of speed skating. The movie follows the twosome's rigorous practice schedule and passionate relationship as they get in shape for competition.
Production will start in Montreal this month and the movie is scheduled for a spring airdate.
The 1992 feature film "The Cutting Edge" starred D.B Sweeney as ex-hotshot hockey superstar Doug Dorsey and Moira Kelly as the temperamental and pampered figure skater Kate Moseley.
