ABC Gets Ambitious with New Shows for 2009-10

President of ABC Seeks the Top

On Saturday Steve McPherson, President of ABC Entertainment Group, sat down for a press conference to discuss his own network's challenges. According to Forbes.com, the channel has been losing its viewers and hopes to reel them back in with four new comedies this fall.

Kelsey Grammer will star in "Hank," Courtney Cox in "Cougar Town," and Patricia Heaton in "The Middle." A reality competition show will also be included for the fall season.

With "Lost" completely lost and off the air and "Grey's Anatomy" constantly evolving, the network has to perform a sort of juggling act with shows. New ones will be introduced, old ones forgotten, with successful shows like "Scrubs" and "Grey's Anatomy" being polished for better ratings.

By 2010 a total of 11 new shows will be launched by ABC, a Walt Disney company. According to Reuters, McPherson says he wants to remain ambitious and hopes his network can climb from their current third place position, of the four leading U.S. TV networks, to the top.
