ABC Greenlights Two More Drama Pilots

ABC has been hard at work greenlighting a multitude of drama series pilots from notable movie producers and past hit series creators and writers.

On Wednesday, ABC okayed two more hour-long drama pilots, “Generation Y” and “Cutthroat.”

According to an article on HollywoodReporter.com, “Generation Y, from ABC Studios, is a documentary style drama that follows a group of people in the present with flashbacks to 10 years ago when they were in their senior year of high school.”

The series is based on God’s Highway, a Scandinavian show that is produced by Stockholm-Copenhagen Productions.

Noah Hawley, the creator of cancelled ABC dramedy The Unusuals, wrote Generation Y’s script and will be the project’s showrunner, along with Warren Littlefield and Stockholm-Copenhagen Productions' Henrik Bastin, Peter Magnasson and Martin Piersson.

The HollywoodReporter.com article goes on to say, “Cutthroat, from 20th TV, is a dramedy about an ambitious single mother who finds running her own international drug cartel is perfect training for navigating the cutthroat world of Beverly Hills high society.”

Michele Fazekas and Tara Butters, the creators of the CW’s supernatural dramedy, Reaper, will be the project’s writers/showrunners.

In addition, the pilot order for a legal drama, entitled The Whole Truth, from the Pirates of the Caribbean movie franchise’s producer, Jerry Bruckheimer, has also been given the go-ahead.

The HollywoodReporter.com article mentions, “The Whole Truth, from Warner Bros. TV, chronicles the building of a case from the perspective of both the defense and prosecution.
Tom Donagh (Without a Trace) wrote the script and is co-executive producing with KristieAnne Reed. Bruckheimer and Jonathan Littman are executive producing.”

Truth is the second pilot order for Bruckheimer TV this season. The first was the pickup of the company’s drama series, entitled The Chase, by NBC.
