ABC makes changes to 'Cougar Town'

Justin Chan

ABC has decided to cut down on the number of episodes for Cougar Town for the 2012 midseason.

Entertainment Weekly reports that the network will reduce the number of episodes from 22 to 15. The move does not mean that the show, which features Courteney Cox, will be canceled. Sources close to the situation say that the decision is part of "managing the inventory."

According to AceShowBiz.com, the season premiere of Cougar Town might be delayed because it was not on the list of the network's midseason lineup.

While the future of Cougar Town is up in the air, ABC decided to order three more episodes of Body of Proof. It will now have 20 episodes for the season. Pan Am will possibly be canceled since a new comedy, GCB, will take its slot beginning in March of next year. Man Up also faces a similar ending, as a new show called Work It will make its debut on January 3. There have been reports that Man Up will end after 13 episodes, although ABC has asserted that the show is not canceled.

Other shows that will be making their debuts include The River (February 7), Scandal and Apartment 23.

Currently, ABC has several comedies that are performing decently. Suburgatory has been a hit among fans while Happy Endings is slowly gaining a huge cult following.
