ABC may fire ballroom professional Karina Smirnoff from Dancing with the Stars following her recent photo shoot for Playboy.
The San Jose Mercury News reported that an unidentified Dancing with the Stars insider told the Popeater website, “If Karina posed naked, she can kiss her dancing days goodbye.” ABC has not released an official statement on the matter.
According to AceShowbiz, by posing nude, Smirnoff would have violated her contract because she did not get consent from the Dancing with the Stars executives prior to posing for the May 2011 issue of Playboy. Smirnoff reportedly will appear on the cover and inside the issue.
Hugh Hefner, editor-in-chief and creator of Playboy, tweeted the news that Smirnoff had posed for Playboy on his Twitter Thursday.
Public relations for Dancing with the Stars, which is categorized as a family show, reportedly stopped co-host Tom Bergeron from doing a webcast that they did not approve of.
