ABC will go from Desperate Housewives to Devious Maids. On Tuesday, it was reported that ABC has ordered a pilot for Devious Maids, which will be Housewives creator Marc Cherry’s first series after his hit show ends this season. In addition, the network has also ordered pilots for three more dramas.
According to The Wrap, Devious Maids is based on a Mexican program. ABC describes it as a soap that centers on four ambitious maids who hope to follow their dreams while working for powerful Beverly Hills clients. Cherry is expected to write the drama and executive produce with Housewives executive producer Sabrina Wind.
The second pilot comes from the mind of Green Lantern producer Michael Green and is titled Gotham. Deadline reports that this series focuses on a female cop who gets wrapped up in an unsolvable case that leads to the discovery of a magical world in New York City. ABC is hoping that the 20th Century Fox TV-produced series will be as popular as Once Upon A Time.
Zero Hour originated from ABC Studios and was created by Prison Break’s Paul Scheuring. This series tells the story of a magazine editor who gets pulled into a bizarre conspiracy, notes TV Fanatic.
The final series green-lit is Penoza from Twilight screenwriter and Dexter executive producer Melissa Rosenberg. It is based off of a Dutch program where a widow takes control of her husband’s crime syndicate to protect the family.
On Tuesday, TV Fanatic also reported that ABC picked up a comedy with Judy Greer as a newly married woman who moves into the suburbs, only to find that her husband’s ex-wife is the town sheriff.
