Abdul Will Not Appear on "Ugly Betty"

Paula Abdul, who chose not to return to next season's "American Idol" due to disappointment with her contract, will not appear on ABC's "Ugly Betty."

According to Los Angeles Times, ABC denied on Sunday the rumor that Abdul was in talks to play a temp and friend to Becki Newton's character, Amanda, in the show. The episode was scheduled to shoot next week, but negotiations between Abdul and ABC broke off beforehand.

Cinema Blend reports that Abdul has also stopped meetings with ABC about appearing on "Dancing with the Stars" and would rather return to "Idol" with her fellow judges. It is unclear whether she will join FOX's "So You Think You Can Dance."

Meanwhile, "Idol" hopefuls auditioned in Atlanta on Sunday in front of judges Randy Jackson, Kara DioGuardi and Simon Cowell, MyFox Atlanta reports. Abdul's former seat was reserved by guest judge Mary J. Blige.
