Next March in the revival of the 1960 best play winner The Miracle Worker, Oscar nominee Abigail Breslin will make her Broadway debut. Breslin will play the role of Helen Keller alongside Tony nominee Alison Pill who will take on the role as Keller's inspirational teacher, Annie Sullivan.

William Gibson who passed away in 2008 wrote The Miracle Worker in 1957 for television's Playhouse 90. His play adaptation opened two years later and ran more than 700 performances. Anne Bancroft played Annie and Patty Duke was Helen in the Broadway version.

The role of Helen Keller's mother has yet to be casted.

Kate Whoriskey will direct, and rehearsals begin Jan. 11. Previews of the show will start Feb.12 at Circle in the Square Theatre.

Breslin, 13, said in an interview: "I am so honored … Helen is a hero of mine for so many reasons."

Breslin received an Oscar nomination from her role in Little Miss Sunshine.
