Courtney Love did not approve of her late husband's likeness being used in Guitar Hero 5.

Activision, the company behind the "Guitar Hero" games, released a statement saying that it secured all the rights to use the late Nirvana front man Kurt Cobain's likeness in the game, after the singer's widow, Courtney Love, claimed she did not give consent.

"Guitar Hero secured the necessary licensing rights from the Cobain estate in a written agreement signed by Courtney Love to use Kurt Cobain's likeness as a fully playable character in Guitar Hero 5," Activision said, according to TeamXbox.

Cobain's avatar can be used to play Nirvana's songs, as well as others.

Love lashed out via Twitter that she wants to sue the company. She also said she thought her late husband would have disapproved of the game.

On Thursday, Krist Novoselic and Dave Grohl said in a joint statement that they were upset that Cobain's character could be used to play non-Nirvana songs, according to the Associated Press. The two knew about Cobain's character being able to play Nirvana songs.
