Actor Chris Klein of ‘American Pie’ Fame Arrested for DUI

According to Us Magazine, 31-year-old actor Chris Klein was arrested on Wednesday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence. Klein reportedly captured the attention of authorities at 3:13 a.m. when he was weaving through lanes on Hollywood Freeway. The California Highway Patrol promptly pulled him over and asked him to take a field sobriety test before taking him into custody after he complied and failed.

The 31-year-old actor was booked and released on his own recognizance, but Wednesday’s DUI incident is not the first time that he has been in trouble with the law. Five years ago, he was arrested and charged with two misdemeanor counts of DUI for more than doubling California’s legal blood-alcohol limit. The American actor exceeded California’s .08 limit when he recorded a .20 blood-alcohol level.

Klein’s acting career has failed to take off ever since his role in the popular teen comedies American Pie and American Pie 2. In the films, he portrayed the role of a stereotypical jock who eventually became sensitive as Christopher “Oz” Ostreicher. His most noteworthy role since his appearances in the American Pie series was his portrayal of Dusty Dinkleman in the 2005 comedy Just Friends.

The actor is perhaps most well known for dating actress Katie Holmes for four years before becoming engaged to her in 2004, but the former couple broke off their engagement one year later.
