Actress Joy Page Dies at 83
Actress Joy Page died on April 18 in L.A. at the age of 83, the New York Times reports.
Her son, Gregory Orr, explained that it was complications of stroke and pneumonia that caused her passing away. This took place at Los Angeles's Cedars-Sinai Medical Center.
The actress, born 9 November, 1924 in L.A., was the stepdaughter of the former Warner Brothers studio president Jack L. Warner. Page was the daughter of silent-film star Don Alvarado, also referred to as Don Page, and Ann Boyar. Boyar married Warner after her split with Alvarado.
Page was known for making her film debut in the classic motion picture Casablanca, where she played the Bulgarian newlywed Annina Brandel, explores the San Francisco Chronicle. At the time, she was 17 years old, finishing her last year of high school.
The actress married William T. Orr in 1945. Her husband later came to head the TV department at Warner Brothers. The couple divorced in 1970.
Orr said that Warner liked Page's acting in Casablanca, but despite this, he wouldn't cast her in other Warner Brothers films.
Page's other appearances on the big screen include Kismet and Man-Eater of Kumaon. She retired from acting in 1962.
