Actress Kristin Scott Thomas Will Star in Lennon's Biography

The upcoming movie is based on John Lennon's early life.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, the two-time Golden Globe nominee, Kristin Scott Thomas, will play the former Beatle's Aunt "Mimi" in the film, Nowhere Boy.

Aunt "Mimi," whose real name was Mary Smith, had raised Lennon after her sister, Julia Lennon, failed to provide sufficient care for her son.

In 1958, Julia Lennon was fatally run over by an off-duty police officer. Lennon was 17 years old at the time.

Actress Anne-Marie Duff will play Lennon's mother, while newcomer Aaron Johnson will play Lennon.

Thomas, 48, was nominated for an Oscar for Best Actress in the 1996 film, The English Patient. Recently, she costarred in the film, The Other Boleyn Girl, with actresses Natalie Portman and Scarlett Johansson.

The film marks the directorial debut of artist Sam Taylor-Wood. Shooting will begin in March in Liverpool, England and at Ealing Studios.
